With season 28 of Dancing With the Stars coming to an end, fans may be wondering when the next season will start.

According to Gold Derby, season 29 of Dancing With the Stars‘ premiere date will be in Fall 2020. This means that the show scaling back to once a year instead of twice will continue for longer than just season 28.

As for why the change, Gold Derby stated that “ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said the network was in “in conversations” about whether the show would eventually return to its twice-a-year format, but didn’t guarantee anything. In May, she said she hoped the long break in between seasons and the show’s new tweaks would freshen it and extend its life.”

Fortunately for fans, if they want to get their DWTS before next season, they can always catch their favorite pro dancers on tour. These pros include Witney Carson, Val Chmerkovskiy, Jenna Johnson, Emma Slater, Sasha Farber, Gleb Savchenko, Lindsay Arnold, Alan Bersten, and Brandon Armstrong.

The celebrities from season 28 of DWTS who are going to appear as part of the tour include Sailor Lee Brinkley Cook, Hannah Brown, Kate Flannery, Kel Mitchell, Ally Brooke and Lauren Alaina. Fans are probably sad to hear that James Van Der Beek won’t be a part of the tour. There’s always a chance he could drop in though.

The dates of the live tour are from January 9, 2020, through April 7, 2020.

Fans Want the Show Back to Twice Per Year

Some fans have voiced that they want the show to return to the original format, airing in both the Fall and the Spring.

One commenter on the Gold Derby site named Linda Zieske said that she hopes the show will go back to airing twice per year. She wrote, “I enjoy watching Dancing with the stars every season. I am disappointed that it won’t be on in the spring. We are not allowed to vote in Canada, so my husband & I just enjoy the show. Sure we have our favorites. But just roll with the results. We really liked James & thought he would win. I think he may have asked to be sent home because of what his family is going through, losing their baby. He didn’t even want to dance that night, but his wife encouraged him to. Just remember it is just an entertainment show, just like any other show on tv. People who vote, vote for their favorites, so that’s how it goes. In that regard it is a popularity that wins.”

After the Tour There Will Be Another DWTS Adventure

A new experience has been created for DWTS fans. The Dancing with the Stars interactive experience “Journey to Paradise” will take place at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas, starting May 29, 2020. This experience will run for three days.

The experience will feature some of your favorite pros from DWTS, performances, trivia nights, themed dance parties, a costume exhibit, and photo sessions with some of the performers. Some of the pros participating are Armstrong, Arnold, Bersten, Chmerkovskiy, Farber, Johnson, Savchenko, and Slater. Pros Cheryl Burke, Sharna Burgess, Artem Chigvintsev, Keo Motsepe, Tony Dovolani, Kym Johnson Herjavec, Pasha Pashkobv, and judge Bruno Tonioli will also appear, as well former competitors Ginger, as reported by Entertainment Tonight.
